Wirral's precious Green Belt is under threat from development. A lack of a proper local plan from the Labour controlled council has sadly left many of our much loved green spaces open to unwanted building, against the wishes of local people.
Labour are also risking £26 million pounds of your money on the Hoylake Golf Resort development that many feels offers a much needed road to the area but little else.
Our Plan:
Conservatives Councillors will bring more of the 6,000 empty homes back into use and we'll produce a Local Plan that works for Wirral, protecting our precious Green Belt while encouraging development in the urban areas.
So far, we have:
- Opposed Labour's plans to build on our Green Belt, including the 'Hoylake Golf Resort' and Saughall Massie
- Argued for a Local Plan to protect our Borough
- Called for developers to be directed to the urban areas
- Organised public meetings for residents to find out more
Nationally, Conservatives have:
- Introduced stronger protections for the Green Belt
- Scrapped Labour's Regional Planning Strategies
- Asked for councils to give their views on housing targets (Wirral's Labour Council never responded)
- Taken action against councils that have failed to produce a Local Plan
Have your say on the future of Wirral's Green Belt
This is an opportunity to set a Plan
Fill in this petition to urge Wirral Labour to produce a Local Plan that works for Wirral West, protecting our precious Green Belt while encouraging development in the urban areas.
Enabling investments in our local roads so that there is better connectivity and ease the areas of congestion.
Enabling development in the right areas that will support residents and businesses.
An opportunity to involve Strategic businesses looking to grow their business.
Much of this relies on good infrastructure and joined up thinking so that Wirral West is an even better area to live and to work. Making it easier for families to grow up here, work here and stay here because it is a place of opportunity.
